nnn,
Nice car!! I wanted a white slant... Just couldn't find a nice one at the right price when I was looking... I have a slant nose [red], too... Mine's aftermarket, though... I noticed that your DS headlight is a little too far depressed; therefore, not flush with the fender... Maybe it's just the picture, but it definitely reminded me of mine at one time... If yours is like mine, it's adjustable... I was able to adjust the gearing and get it flush, again. Maybe a 2-hour weekend project... FYI...

Nice photo there, Tony. I can see the similarities and differences. This one is a 1986.

Kinda what I thought...Different from mine(89 factory slant) but it does finish the front off quite nice.

About the front valences.
Only euro cars came with the front valence as pictured on nnn's beautiful car. That is because the US did not approve of the location of the oil cooler. Didn't meet our safety regs or something like that. So the '87 thru '89 M505 cars came with the oil cooler inside the passenger side fender behind the vent and we got stuck with the regular 930 valence. If you see a car in the US with one it's either a euro car or an aftermarket piece. Two other subtle points that you can see in the pictures below. The lights that came in the factory bumper on the European version were not the same as our standard Carrera/930 lights and the grill work in front of the factory mounted cooler was a body color mesh very different from most of the grills you see applied to aftermarket cars here in the US. ![]()

Boosted 89: Thanks. The tires Michelin Pilot Sports: 225/40ZR18 on the fronts, and 285/30ZR18 on the rears, mounted on HRE wheels with wheel spacers on the rear. I still have the original Fuchs wheels in storage, mounted on Dunlops.

tdc911,
Thanks for the article. I was entertaining to read about the styling observations of the 911/930 in a twenty year-old article. They are indeed timeless. Now, if we only had Motronic engine management that the article states in 1987........ ![]()

Nice one..!
Looks like a car done by b&b in Germany back in the 80's/early 90's. For me that's based on the front spoiler, the striping and the us of the 928 headlights. They did this trick before the factory did. They used to advertise their cars quite a bit in "Automotor Und Sport." Was this pic taken by you.. Road Atlanta?

I didn't take those, it looks like it was spotted in Seattle.
2009 Seattle Historics - a set on Flickr I just noticed it has a center brake light under the tail. Last edited by willtel; 12-24-2009 at 05:50 PM.. |
