waddy there is also a single wire overboost valve on the left rear [looking from the rear] of your intercooler which you can bypass by hooking the wire itself to ground. i have installed a wire to ground to be able to do just that in case of failure that ' switch' will shut off fuel at overboost iirc.....frank

The reason I ask ..

I have had my intercooler off a couple of times and I do not recall any wire attached my intercooler, only various hoses (but I am old and tend to be forgetful).

I was operating under an understanding the overboost wire was on a switch or something on the 'manifold type thing' under the intercooler.

The reason I bring this up ... if I am supposed to have this wire ON my intercooler to protect from overboost, and it is not presently there, I want to get busy and take corrective action. Easer to ask the question in forum rather than scrounge up my manuals and start looking for pics, etc.

Clarification please, anybody?

I believe the switch is on intermediate intake:

that is the overboost switch. it is shown upside down in the picture. by connecting the wire to it to ground and bypassing it you are removing the overboost function. however, if this sensor is failing and the cause of the problem then it is worth doing to get yourslef home to be able to replace that sensor.
it is not adviseable to run around continuously with the sensor bypassed as obviously you risk overboosting.

Hello Waddy,
Some here say that the Permatune should not whine as does the Bosch unit. Maybe mine emitting the whine was a sign it was about to die...who knows!!
If you can find another 930 owner, you can simply borrow their CDI box for a simply plug-n-play test. The CDI box is only held in with a couple of screws & all the 6 pin wiring harnesses are the same.
Just another thought.
Mark
