a sunday present!!
I walk in the garage today not wanting to play with my toys.
but hear a humming sound coming from the front of my 1987 carrear sounds like the fuel pump, but key is off!! turns out to be fuel pump, key still off. HELP PLEASE WHY WOULD IT BE RUNNING. ![]() ![]() Thanks ed |

Sorry I can't help about this one but may I suggest to disconnect the battery immediately (if you have not done so). Hope others can chime in and help quickly.

Short or fault in the ignition key, the micro switch at the fuel distributor control arm, or perhaps the infamous yellow relay. That's all I can think of.

On my '87 the 2 red fuel pump relays in the front of the car are hot all the time, even with the key off and removed.
My guess is the front fuel pump relay's points are frozen together in the on position. Especially if only the front pump is running. If it was any of the other relays, switches, or alarm systems causing it then both pumps should be running. |

just the front pump is running. pulled the battery cable till next play day!
damn thing was just sitting in the garage and started running. where is the yellow relay. |

In the engine bay. Left side by the tail light. Might have to remove the cover off if you have it on.

fuel pump relay under the drivers seat had water in it at one time!!
