Slick 50 or Zmax for rebuilt engine?
On a rebuilt 930, would you put slick 50 or zmax before filling up with oil for better protection? Your input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you. |

neither.
Straight 30 weight oil with high ZDDP content is best for initial startup and the first hour of running. Brad Penn makes an excellent 30 weight oil just for breaking in a motor. Valvoline VR1 is another good one. Don't use synthetic for breakin, it's too slippery to seat the rings properly. |

Slick 50 faced a class action lawsuit for a reason. Stay away from 'off the shelf' oil additives.

Teflon or PTFE has no place in any lubricating oil.
That's what they used to claim, now they claim 'miracle molecules'. Pure marketing hype.
