I think the MSD coils have a different resistance or impedance than the Bosch coil for your car. It might have fried the CDI

Like Jim said I don't think they are compatible. Swap it out and see what happens.

Yeah put the old one in and it fired right up. Was really bummed had it all back together after adjusting the WUR then the girlfriend drops by and wants to go out and it wouldnt start. but it only took 10 mintues to swap it back. what i really think it was though was the POS magnacore wires. the snout for the coil wire in the msd coil is a lot longer. I had a tough time plugging the coil wire into it I think it ran for a couple minutes then came loose. next set of wires I am going to make myself. Tired of spending a lot of money on something of dubious quality.

+1 in the Magnecore. You really gotta shove that coil wire in there.

I'm missing the rubber boot off the #6 plug wire. It just split one day. Car stll runs well, but it shouldn't happen.

maybe we need a build you own wires thread with places to get all the different parts. probably have to do it over on rennlist though. I have tried in the past couldnt find the dust boots and the part that goes through the valve covers.

Looking at their site, they sell spare parts. I suppose I might be able to buy the rubber sleeve that covers the boot (that goes down the plug hole).

I'm making my next set. I'll use morroso blue max wire and boots but the plug ends I am not sure where to get them from. I want to get stainless steel ones not brass. and a good set of dust boots the magnacore valve cover dust boots have melted from the heat.

The magnacore installation problem is because we are stuffing 8mm or 8.5mm silicone jacketed wires into holes made for 7mm wires. It can be done with lubrication, massaging, pushing, and perserverance...

The rubber air seals where the plug connectors go through the upper valve cover are cheap on the magnacores and warp sideways quickly. The ones from beru wires are thicker and hold their shape alot better.
You can take them off the beru's (you may be replacing) and put them on the magnacores and that improves them.
