Missing contributions-where are you guys?
This board has been a tremendous help in the fun and mechanical understanding of 930 ownership, however I have not seen from a few regular contributors...please write back how things are going and what is the status of your ride!!

Well, unless it was an E30 model with green and white Tic Tac livery and Johnny Cecotto's name painted on the roof. Then that would be pretty cool.

Last I checked, Sand_Man hadn't yet sold the 930 (but it was part of the plan when he acquired the M3).
Do you have inside info willtel?

Still here with a responce every now and again. The driving season is over for awhile so, just getting them ready for the up coming good weather. So far so good.

Someone could probably do some fun analytics on bulletin boards like this one and find some patterns. There are clear "eras", if you will, where for a period of time a core group of guys basically prop up the board. My guess would be an era is probably about 3-4 years. Think Geoffrey, Brent930, Eric Stroh Racing, DonE.
It goes from "hey guys, just bought my first 930 and", to "what is the widest rim that will fit", to "why is it smoking when". Then the rebuild, then the EFI, then the been-there-done-that guy who helps out the next crop of "just bought my first 930". [ I love those guys. ] But eventually the car is done, the boards and the questions just seem repetitive, and the car gets sold. The good news is the next era, and set of personalities, is always in the wings. Like troop recruits.I'd love to see the curve of post-frequency over time. I'm sure it's the classic bell curve.

Yeah I will be around for awhile too. Huge part of my life since 1988 and plan on doing more.
I have 4 930's that I will probably have forever. Not counting the 911's.

X98Boardwell..... He sold his 930 and now has a 996 TT cabriolet.. (loser!!!). He is doing well, and still frequents the board some. I on the other hand have had a few sidetracks..... The birth of my son just under two years ago ( Man, these kids are tons of work!!), and other hobbies have taken priority. I have been working on my motorcoach, and now that is completed, it is off to finish the 930... then off to stuffing an LS2 into a 944..., tehn possibly building an experimential aircraft... Of course, thats this LOONNG range plans...

Though I never posted all that much, I've been and active Pelican and Rennlist participant through the full 930 cycle, from the purchase of a 78 930 that was essentially stock in 2000 to the sale of it in 2010 as a 622 hp EFI track beast. I still look in on the board and post now and then when I feel I have something to add. But for now, I've caught the GT3 bug.

Just happen to be lurking. I´ve put those 22 Garrett years behind me. I´m on a contract engineering assignment for the guys who make giant yellow mine haul trucks. Ironing out routine preproduction turbocharger field issues in Lima, Peru. Summer here, top Hotel, 6 blocks from the ocean, people are great, women attractive and I´m making great money doing what I love. Things have turned the corner for me. Two 911s, four motors and a classic beetle are waiting for me in the shop when my rotations here slow down and I can spend more time back home. Marty |

Personally I found the degrading of a thread to be the killer.
Somebody asks a simple new member question. People answer, and then somebody tells someone else that they are wrong. Then it starts getting personal. And the insults begin to fly. And meanwhile the newbie is wondering what the heck they have gotten themselves into - they asked a simple question about their new (to them) car and now people are slinging mud at each other. Seen in it happen too often and it's gotten old. Poor RarlyL8 has been the victim of this more times than I can count - Brian deserves the Nobel peace prize for putting up with the crap he gets.
