She goes like stink on p**p!!!!
Ok for those who have been following my saga, it think I got it right! I am not sure if it was the recalibration of the LM-2 or the fact that I pulled and capped the vac line to the advance pod on my SC distributor.
The result was the AFRs stabilized. Now blips of the throttle would reach maybe 16s. So I took the car for a ride.... AFRs were at 12.9 at idle when warm, 14.5 cruising at 3K rpm still wasn't sure if I was getting boost so I gave 'er a little. I CAN'T WIPE THE SMILE OFF MY FACE!! This car flys! Not to mention AFRS are 10.8 at WOT. Happy to finally join the boost club! Thanks to all who helped, Ben at M&K, Rolland across the pond, Cole, Todd and anyone else I may have missed.

As to meth injection, certainly a nice safeguard. But with your 10.8 AFR on full boost, I wouldn't be worried about it. But when you start fine-tuning to leaner settings for max power, then by all means hook up the spirits to her (rather than methanol, I would go with ethanol - for those times when she's giving you fits on the side of the road and a stiff drink is in order).

Good to see that you found your boost. I almost wrote on your other thread "if you have to ask, you're not getting any"...
Good work, pics of the finished product?

Also I was under the impression because I am running the stock SC C/R that the onset of boost would be more "linear" so to speak and less noticeable than a stock 930, boy was I wrong it still gives you a kick in the pants when she spools up. I just hope the eminent rebuild is not in the too near future (besides I think my wife would kill me if I pull the engine again, but what the hell, it definately is worth it!)

Congrates!! Nothing is more satisfying than fixing a problem like you had and going out for a successful test ride.. Then to think what it would have cost you to have a professional wrench fix it.

Have you tried increasing it and seeing what your AFR's are doing then? I'd be interested to know what your AFR's look like at 0.5 - 0.7bar. I think you should be OK since you are using very good intercooling. If a 9.5:1 3.2 Carrera can run 0.7bar bar intercooled, you should be fine at 8.5:1! Have you dyno'd it yet? How much power are you developing? |

Yes I have another thread on this. Think it is called the results. I am using 0.5 bar and was dynoed at 254 hp. Not bad ;-). The only issue I have is that the boost is coming on late ~3800 with a k27 7200 and haven't figured out why. My heads are ready for twin plug I just have to get a dizzy etc. I plan to upgrade the fp as well and then I will recheck AFRs and probably bump up the boost. I too think it is running good at 0.5 but it does slowly start to lean out to the 12s when up in the higher rpms. Dyno sheets are also posted.

You considered a BITZ EFI conversion? You're still running CIS right?

No, I had purchased an Megasquirt system on my first attempt, but became frustrated, and sold it (long story). I decided to keep it simple just to see if I could do it my self, so I went with a 930 (Euro) CIS and it works well.

Have you verified you are getting full throttle? That will def affect spool time.
