Temp gauge no worky after 3.3T to 3.6T engine swap

The oil temp sender is the same as many other Porsche's correct, mounted back just below the pressure sending unit...Under the blue plug?

Oil gauge needle sometimes erradically jumps around, but for the most part shows no heat. Ideas? Does not having the two wiring connections up by the chain tensioners connected have anything to do with it? My 3.6T doesn't have those sensors, so the harnesses just sit there.

Mark
