Problem with Zeitronix logging
As you know I am tuning my SDS EFI conversion since a while
After a few logs with the SDS, I wanted to improve readings and log using the Zeitronix ZT-2. Unfortunatly, I have no device found on my netbook, when try to connect. Here are the infos: Netbook using Ubuntu ZT-2 software installed using Wine Serial USB-RS232 connection. But Software does not find any device. I think the problem is the USB port (closed) I googled and asked Zeitronix, but no success ![]() Does anybody is logging with an Linux computer and Zeitronix?

I've had some luck with mac drivers on my Ubuntu
I don't know if this is your issue but Solution: Belkin F5U409 USB to Serial Converter in 64bit Windows 7/Vista/Mac OSX 10 - ClearChain driver link at bottom of page |

Hi. I'm runnimg Zeitronix software on Ubuntu under Wine with various luck. The software works, but is a little unstable.
To read the input from the Zeitronix unit, you need to redirect the wine com1 serial (and virtual) port to a physical port on your Ubunto unit. Typically this is /dev/ttyUSB0 Go to the .wine/dosdevices directory in your home area, and type ln /dev/ttyUSB0 com1 This will make a link from com1 virtual serial port to the physical port of ttyUSB0 I'm assuming you are using a serial-to-USB adapter. Its been a while since I did this, so this is by memory. Search ubuntu forums for further help. This is nothing special for Zeitronix, but is a issue issue with programs running under wine needing a serial port

Under windoze a USB to serial will usually provide a higher numbered COM port, but running the app under Wine usually works with COM1. One thing thoug, the serial port under Ubuntu will sometimes be ttyACM0. To make sure you use the right one; from a terminal window, type 'ls / dev' without the USB-serial adapter in the port, and then repeat with the adapter inserted. Then see which portname (device) appears, and use the ln command with the correct device.

Zeitronix is connecting up with your Linux serial device just fine, but there is no connection to the virual Windows/Wine serial device (comx).
When installing Wine, a .wine (dotwine) directiory is created automatically in your home catalog. Are you using a file browser til search for it, or are you using a command window? Your default file browser (Nautilus) will by default hide all directories starting with a "." press ctrl-h to unhide. If Wine was installed as root or other user, you will find the .wine director in their respective home folder (/home/root or /home/otherusername This is a Linux challenge, not a Zeitronix problem. Search Linux forums........

I started a project last winter to make a serial dongle with a flash drive reader to collect Zeitronix logs without a laptop. This will plug into the zeitronix serial cable and log anything it receives. Unfortunately, other projects took my time, but its time for me to get back on track with this. I'll get back with more info.....

In the terminal window, type:
ls .wine and let me know what you get in return Where do they go for the salmon fishing, your parents? My family come from a farm along one of the best salmon rivers in Norway. At 14 my grandfather participated in catching one of the biggest salmons ever taken on a fly rod: 29,5 Kg!! I have a picture, and I'll post tomorrow.

Now thats crazy. My fathers family is from Seem gård in Grong which is a few miles away. Same river, Namsen. Small world
![]() This picture show my grandfather on the left when he was 14. This photo is taken in 1914 when they took this 29,5 Kg ( 65 lb) salmon on a fly rod. ![]() Now back to your problem. There you see your dosdevices directory. So if you type into the terminal window: cd .wine/dosdevices then plug in the Zeitronix to the USB port and do: ls /dev Its going to be a long list of stuff in several colums. Look if you can find ttyUSB0 or ttyUSB1 or maybe ttyACM0 or 1 Whatever you find, you use in the next command you type into the terminal: ln /dev/ttyUSB0 com1 or ln /dev/ttyACM0 com1 In the Zeitronix software you can select between several com ports. If your software is set up tpo use com3, you can replace com1 with com3 in the commands above afterwards, type ls -l and post the output so I can check that the link is ok, and the same as mine. Good luck, and say hi to your parents.
