SC Turbo Conversion, The Result (Dyno!)
So many have asked about the result and I had an extra hour to get the car on the dyno and see where it currently stands.

Way to go bud !!!!!!
Great job well done. Car is really really nice. Cole |
Thanks Cole, I appreciate the compliments. Hopefully I can enjoy it for a little while before I need to tear into again and chase the higher HP numbers.
|
AFR's look a little too fat as boost passes 3psi until full boost is reached for a while. leaning out there would gain some HP and quicker spooling for sure.
There are different meanings how mutch, only dyno will tell exactly, but near 11.0 is too fat for sure Nice built anyway |
Thanks Roland, Couldnt have done it with out your help too.
|
Nice work! You put a ton of time and effort in on this and I and sure you learned a lot. Take some time to enjoy your success and then start the fine tuning. The car looks great.
|
nice - just out of curiousity what gear did you dyno in? and is it a 5 speed?
|
Yes, 915. I am pretty sure the pulls were in 4th, but was not paying that close attention as I was watching the CPU screen.
|
On your next trip to the dyno, as mentioned above, you could add some timing and pull some fuel is the 3500- 5200rpm range if that's possible. Quicker spool up and more torque is hidden in there, but watch your a/f over 5200rpm as it seems to be going alittle lean.
First, just enjoy it.. |
Nice job!
|
Well done

Jeremy:
What I got first time out on the dyno is here...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/365597-bae-install-dyno-data.html I think I am up around 300 now, with the Borg Warner turbo, better spool. You have some room to tweak yours. Good luck! |
Nice Job
|
Looks like you've added about 50% more power; ought to be a lot of fun!
|
Its acutally a bit more than that, but anyway, yes, plenty more fun.
|
Sweet looking ride..Congrats!! :)
|
Question. Do you guys know what the in@rr means on the charts? Inertia?
|
I think rr is the ramp rate for that dyno, or how fast they load it. I am not sure about that specific terminology.
|
I just confirmed pulls were done in 4th gear.
Static timing was set to 24° BTD and there was no retard when bost came on. (Thought their might be but there wasnt with the SC distributor). |
Is that 254HP at the wheels, or crank?
|
Wheels my friend. :D

Conservative as I may acutally have more :) or less :( HP?
Either way am happy, just need to get it to spool quicker. |

I'd recommend a GT30R if you want to maximize response. A great turbo, and a perfect match for the 3.0 ;) |
I would guestimate approx. around 285hp. 12%
NICE. :) |

And yes, the GT30R sounds like a good match for the 3.0 from what I've read. |

Still, not bad for only 0.4bar of boost! I still think he can run 0.7bar safely when tuned properly. Yep, a GT30R BB turbo with a 0.82 A/R hotside should be a very nice and fun turbo for a 8.5:1 Turbo SC! Couple that with speed density EFI and a free flowing exhaust  |
I am running 0.5 bar. I subbed to your msd thread, interested to see how that goes.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know how well the MSD 6ABTM works on a SC turbo conversion with the BITZ EFI kit. Might actually be more cost effective to run a basic standalone aftermarket ECU, like an Autronic SMC/Haltech/AEM/Wolf EMS with full fuel and ignition control instead of the BITZ kit + MSD 6ABTM  |
Seems like an easy 40 hp, I may even have the springs already, but am hesitant to go any higher right now. I guess I have 5+ mo. to think about it.
|
Yep, either way, it's got to be a blast to drive compared to stock NA trim :D
|
Like I said, the only Issue I have with it, is that I have to wind the car out to finally ge positive press and guys have said I should start at 2200.
|
And if you search for, I think, the conversion begins, it shows the route I took.
|
Tony, do any of those guys around here able to do a smoke test, I wonder if the late spool is due to a leak?
|
Jeremy,
what turbo and exhaust system are you running? And, you do have a 930 intake, don't you? |
Yup 930 cis. Exhaust is 993 hes with flipped flanges and m&k y pipe.
|
Ok. You are obviously not making pressure in the lower RPM range. It doesn't appear that you have an overly rich fueling issue from the chart. Pressure is a function of how fast and what size the compressor is, and same with the turbine. I don't recall what you have for a turbo. You may be not making spool faster because of the turbine being too large.
You could have leaks between the compressor and the throttle butterfly, or down past there into the cylinders. Could be cam overlap..what cams are you running, SC? Did you do a leakdown on the cylinders? There exist a lot of variables to this issue. |
Did not do a leak down. SC cams. Cam timing done by Ben not sure what that is. Turbo is a 7200.
|
Would running my SC distributor have anything to do with it?
