A sorry sight!

Hello all, I have been monitoring this site for almost four years picking up tips and ideas. I slowly built up the the Porsche 930 of my dreams. Then last Tuesday night disaster!

Here are a couple of before shots

So sorry my friend. She was a beauty. Fire is my biggest fear with these old girls. I keep an extinguisher behind my seat but often wonder if I could get it on a fire fast enough anyway.

Good luck with everything and thank God you were able to get out safely.

Pretty interesting how the gas tank didn't catch... Either way, a tragic loss

Hopefully, you'll figure out [and share] what happened.

Just looking at one of your "before" pictures, I wonder if the Left Bumber Valence above the Left Exhaust Tip caught on fire? It looks to be overlapping a little???

There was no way any fire extingisher was going to put it out! It took 20 minutes for the fire brigade to put it out. I was driving along when i noticed smoke coming out the rear of the car.I slowed down then saw sinders coming from the back of the car. I stopped turned off the engine, looked back in the mirror and all I could see was flames! I open the door and flames were already next to me. I got out and ran.I have no idea what started it and the state it is now in I can not imagine I will ever know

Wow..ultra sad...as PrimeMvr said fire is the biggest fear for me on my 930. I am sure your fire could be tracked to a fuel leak and the hot exhaust right below. Sorry for your loss

Sorry to see this.. probably helpful in a way if it makes people check out their fuel lines and WUR vent line for dry rot, etc.

Looks like a Garretson intercooler and the fire was so hot in that area it melted the aluminum end tank.

Yes your right about the intercooler I bought it in the states and imported it. The car had genuine speedlines split rims on it as well. They have melted also.

I truly feel bad seeing this happen to your 930. If this happened to me I would be very bummed out to say the least.

You being safe is the most important thing. The loss of the car is crappy though.

Cars can be replaced, lives cannot. I'm glad you were able to get out of the car when you did.

The loss of your car is heart wrenching. Thankfully, it wasn't like something like an accident that might have rendered you incapable to escape, and ended up a piece of carbon.

Good luck if there is anything insurance can do to cover this.
