Tach tech ? for the 930 guru's

Since I have an aftermarket boost gauge in my 930, I have considered selling the factory tach with boost gauge in it and replacing it with a tach only. I bought an 87 Carrera for the G50, does anyone know if the tachs are compatible?

Thanks in advance

Brendon

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't work.

The signal should be the same except for the charge pressure signal.

That's what I was thinking as well. No use in having a useless boost gauge in the tach.

If it doesn't, this will fix it. Made by a fellow Pelican, here is the link. Tachometer Adapter
My 2 '75 tachs work with the '86 3.2 but not with the '79 turbo. I bought one of these and it took care of the problem. No affiliation.
A few years back I sent my tach to NHW Speedo and had the boost gauge replaced with a clock. I've also seen them replaced with a volt meter.

IMR,
I just went through this. Make sure you look at the connector on the back of the tach. The 4-pin and 8-pin are not easily compatible. The 4-pin and 3-pin are direct swap. I believe the '87 Carrera is an 8-pin and therefore is not compatible with the much simpler (pre-85) 3-pin tach.

Thanks guys, maybe I'll be selling both and looking for a mid 80's tach.
