Will Not Idle
I'm having an issue with the engine not wanting to idle once warmed up.
I stepped through all the normal trouble shooting... Fuel Pressures: System Pressure - 85psi Cold Control Pressure - 2.2bar/32psi Warm Control Pressure - 3.5bar/50psi These are right on the button as far as the diagrams say. Reset the CO to 2.5%. The issue happens as soon as the fuel pressure hits 3.1bar. So I figured there must be a vac leak letting air into the motor and not moving the sensor plate. If I lightly push the adjuster screw I can keep the motor running, again, showing a lean condition. If I richen the mixture up around 1/2 turn, I can keep the motor running but it eventually will die at idle if I drive it around enough and boost it a few times. I pulled the BOV and checked the seals, no problem. I borrowed a smoker and found a tiny leak in the line running to the dizzy advance port. Fixed that and still not idling. I pulled my air filter and sealed the area above the sensor plate and smoked the motor again. Now I have found a leak under the fuel distributor head. #3 in the photo... ![]() Before I go pulling the fuel distributor off, I am thinking that maybe one of our fellow pelicans has already dealt with an issue like this and has an idea if that could even be my problem or should I be checking something else. As always, any and all help will definitely be appreciated!

Are you sure the air metering plate/plunger moves freely? Sometimes it gums up and gets stuck, so it doesn't travel/modulate as it should... creating a similar condition as you described at idle.

Everything moves freely.
I pulled off the metering head. There are little tiny filters in each of the fuel lines. 4 of the 6 little filter are jammed up in the banjo bolts almost blocking the side holes. 1 of the filters was fully seated down in the metering head and the last one was halfway in upon removing the banjo bolts. So that brings me to two questions... 1. Do you even need the little filters since we have a filter already on the feed line? 2. Can those filters cause a low flow condition that would keep the car from idling? P.S... After removing the fuel head, I cannot find the #3 seal anywhere. I assume it has disintegrated over the last 33 years. New one on order...

Sorry, could not figure out how to edit the previous post to add a picture after the fact...
Here is the little filter next to the banjo bolt that I was referring too... ![]()

Just an update. I ended up pulling an injector last night so I could watch when the fuel started flowing since it seemed like the sensor plate was not activating. Well, the experiment proved that the sensor plate had to be depressed pretty far before the injector opened. Well beyond the "vertical wall" described in the Bosch manual.
So, I am still tightening and fiddling with physical components, but I think I am on to something. A little more fiddling today and if it isn't working by Monday, I guess I'll have RarelyL8 go through it with a fine toothed comb...
