trouble with 930 dizzy

I had some trouble with my 930 distributor that had too much play. There were intermitent displays of problems but nothing I could repeat. Finally, it was discovered that the distributor cap was "popped" off and this was due to wear in the housing and the excessive play was causing to put the rotor into the cap.

This was cured by my shop when they machined a shim to .073 that put the distributor end play into specs. Another problem was the forward clip kept coming off. I bent the clip and replaced the rotor that had some damage.

Hopefully this will be an option for some others versus buying another distributor.

John
