Hard shift and I lost reverse....

...and upon draining the gear lube this evening, i found this in the screen of my drain container...i knew it wasn't the coupler - but i really wish it was...just want to confirm with those in the know that this is a piece off the reverse lever...i believe it came out when i removed the tranny cover plate...thanks for your insight...if i'm right, i want to get the piece ordered as it is a special order from the motherland...

I'm not clear.....your saying it came out with the trans. oil?
It looks like the reverse lock out tang that's welded on the side of the shift lever.

...sorry i wasnt too clear in the above run-on description...it was late...
...about 2 weeks ago, i was cut off and almost run off the road - and in the moment of aggression, there was a hard shift where i couldnt find 1st fast enough, but still was hasty and forceful...the next morning, i go to back out of the dungeon, and i cannot find reverse...i had tried everything - 2 or 3 times over...replaced bushings...finally i drain gear lube from the drain plug and cover plate of my 1986 930...in the screen of the drain contain, i found this little half-fork that i have concluded to be the reverse lever...i dont know how it ended up draining there, but i was just seeking some reassurance in my guess...its not a clutch fork, and all other gears work well...ive got lindsey fuchs coming tomorrow and i want to drive the car - with or with reverse...
...so, c'mon, stroke my ego a bit and tell its gonna be all right for a short while....thanks in advance, guys and gals...

If you're finding chunks of metal in your transmission, I doubt anyone will say that it's okay to drive around. Might be other fragments hidden and unseen which could sooner dislodge and destroy the box. I would not take the chance.

that looks to me to be part of the reverse selection section of the tranny in the nose of the tranny easy to replace,, DON"T drive the car however cause it could get expensive with parts floating around
