Going wide'er
Winter project number 2 :
Going from standard 930se flatnose body to sort of wider maybe 935 style. Car at present : ![]() The front fenders where replaced several years ago due to rust. From metal to FG with kevlar mix. The rear fenders, metal, have started to bubble and rust also. So the same company makes rear quarters of 13" wide, similar to 74 RSR. They also do the wider rocker covers. Example : ![]() ![]() ![]() The choices I have are to either keep it looking more like a road model with the black rubber bumper's front and rear plus on the rockers, or I can do a rubber delete and go all red, a bit like this : ![]() ![]() ![]() If I went for the no rubber look I would also fit a 935 style front bumper from Rennspd : ![]() I like both styles. The rubber on the car really dates it to the 80s which is cool and retro. But I also like to none rubber version, looks more race inspired.

I also need to choose wheels :
rear will be 12, 12.5 or 13x18 to fill the 13" fenders. Fronts will be 8 to 9x18 not sure, the front fenders are standard 9" wide. Whats the widest I can run? Wheel choice is : ![]() ![]() Gold and polished rim is more classic, but the black is cool, much like some of the RWB cars and if I keep the black rubber on the car would probably look good.

I got a cheap deal on some rear tyres last week.
RWB cars run rear 12x18 wheels and 295,315 or 335/30/18 tyres. I got these 315/30/18 at half price. : ![]() ![]() ![]() There pretty dam wide!

I would either keep the rubber bumpers to stay in the 934/35 theme, or do what the Dzug guys did with Mjølner - That front bumper is awesome.
For wheels I'd go gold BBS. This is what I am building: ![]()

That is exactly what I would like to do with my slant. Are the 13" rear fenders in steel or fiberglass?

Wide is great but I think the big boxed rockers look stupid - like the textured metal step on a suburban.
Is there an option to widen it without the rockers? I'd think if it was done right it would accentuate the curves and the width. |

Agreed on the boxed rockers. No good, they hide the width. Take your rockers off first and see how much wider it looks. You could probably get what your looking for with a few mods, like new ft bumper, wheels, ditching the rockers, and removing the fins out of the rear quarter vents. It would look completely different and you wouldnt need to cut up a perfectly good car, and add more weight. 935 is cool, but your car looks like a nice very streetable car, and would you really want to drive something that looked like it was made for Nurburgring every day on the street?

Thanks for the replies guys.
The cars a 1980 SC which I turbo'ed over last winter (see my thread on it). It was converted to a flatnose before I purchased it (think it was in 1986). So no worries that I'm cutting up an original nice 930 or 930se. The Martini 935 pictured above it simply awesome and part of the reason I'm doing this. I would fit wider (11") front 935 fenders and bumper, but its the cost at present, I could always do that later. If I went 935 replica though, I would just have to have the huge single stage wing plus lots of other 935 style goodies (lots more $$$) The car is only a weekend toy and for going to Porsche meets/shows. Something to tinker with and drain my bank account ![]() The company that does the flatnose body panels is Zeemax (Zeemax International Design Fabulous Body Conversions) There parts are a mix of fibre glass and kevlar. Compared to all other fibre glass parts I've seen they are stronger and way more rigid, if a little bit heavier. When I fitted there front flatnose fenders I basically drilled whole to mount to the factory bolt holes and it was ready to paint. My spray guy said they needed next to no prep work and where some of the best panels he's every seen. The fit was just superb right away, not cutting and wasting time. I was planning on going more race car, plastic rear & quarter windows. Remove the dash top and carpet it instead. I've got some 935 Lollipop seats shells ready to be covered and then installed. I might have to see what its like with and with out rockers once its painted. I'll post the pics. Just not sure if I want to go so hard core or not, maybe just keep it a bit more street......

Nice!
My situation is a bit different. The flares are factory steel and I would prefer to find a craftsman that could widen them just 1.5" but just cannot find the right guy. |

Hi Gavin,
Interesting that you posted pics of Image rims - did you see Wheeler Dealers last night on Disco? They fitted Image's to this weeks project, with a 5min walk around their factory. We use their stuff on the hillclimb/sprint cars (Westfield and OMS SS), great rims - as you prob know, the mix'n'match inners and outers allow you to get offsets spot-on. Love that Martini pic as well....not a fan of the extra wide sills I'm afraid. Cheers Spencer
