Just took some pics of my manual idle control valve with a little pocket camera.
It's installed in the air hose from the aux air valve and the hose holds it in place under the control pressure regulator. The pic from farther back shows that you can't see the heater valve I used as an idle control valve unless you know where it is and look for it. The pic of my left rear back seat area shows the little aluminum pull knob on the cable connected to the heater valve mounted under the back seat. I know most people wouldn't want to install this but I like it and it works great. I like music and good sound so it also shows part of a 10" subwoofer box that is held in place by the back of the driver seat pushed back against it. Disconnect two wires on the back and it lifts out easily. There's a 6.5" flush mount speaker mounted in the panel in the top right too. It just fit in there with the shoulder seat belt retractor mechanism next to it behind that panel. In the second picture you can see my WMI injector mounted in the Kokeln intercooler outlet pipe above the throttle body. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Jim, I know you claim to drive your 930 but it looks like you could eat off that engine bay! But wait, do I see a smidgen of discoloration on the fan hub? Pretty impressive....

I don't drive it a lot and not for work because I never know what the parking situation will be. I will drive it in a little while to do some errands and it's beautiful out in S. Florida today... 75 degrees, 47% humidity, and sunny... perfect weather with a cool front on us right now!
I spray off the motor with a hose every once in a while to rinse off road dust and when it's dry spray the aluminum and magnesium parts with CorrosionX to keep them looking nice. Got to keep it off the fan belt of course. I do see a little dust on the top side of the hoses and some dirt and dust in the car. That stuff comes in the windows while driving.. no need for AC this time of year. |

Jim, thanks for the post. I've been wanting to do something like that [manually] for some time. When I do take on the project, I'll refer back to your last couple of posts.
Just curious: Why keep the AAV [AAR] valve inline? As i see it, it's no longer necessary, right? Thanks again! Shannon

Yeah, you could remove it and just use the manual valve. I left it there because it works pretty good for what it is. The only time it really raises the idle annoyingly high here in Florida is when you shut off a hot motor for around 30 minutes on a cold day and then restart it.
Cold days are not too often here and during warm weather which is most of the time it doesn't do it too bad. |
