What Material for Camshaft Extension

What material should I use when I produce a extender for my left 964 Cam.
(for use Scavenge pump Turbo with air pump drive housing)

It is just mild steel, 1018 is fine for that. You will need to use the drive pins from the 930 cams, and make some provision to get the center of the extension aligned with the center of the cam.
