ROW 930s value overseas
Seems like ROW 930s are really taking off in Europe. $100,000 is the starting price for something decent and really nice examples can fetch $200,000. Im wondering when and if we will ever reach this level of appreciation?

A single data point, I sold my RoW 930 at full asking price early last year, via broker to a German buyer. The broker told me it was much easier to bring a grey market car back home, as it were, compared to a later US model car.
Still can't believe how quick that car sold , less than a week, just before the market exploded. Stupid stupid me ![]() |

I think you will find that there were 830 ROW 930's produced in 1980 as well. I'm pretty sure as I have one of them.

I think it has to do with the high tax that has to be paid now vs 0% to pay if taxes paid when delivered new. I've heard there is a way to get US cars in for less taxes if brought in thru Norway. For a few years now the overseas market has been a real money maker for those who buy desirable Porsche models here and sell to there.

Is there a breakdown of how many of each car were sent to each country? Id like to find out how many were imported to Australia during those years

tonypeoni,
I think the market here in the U.S. for Europeans is so attractive for a couple of reasons. One, the obvious one, is Porsche sold many 911's here. We were/are the biggest Porsche market. Secondly, as a whole the Europeans drive their 911's HARD. The well cared for 911's per capita is higher in the U.S. than in Europe. So, I don't think it's correct to use the same attrition rate for Europe as the U.S.

pputkowski,
Have you tried contacting some of the Porsche Clubs overseas? The Porsche Club - Great Britain (PCGB) might be a good starting point. They may have tighter controls over would-be-brokers that may try to post services on their web.
