Just fooling around here with a mock-up of the GT3 manifold on an early engine (sandcast)! Using it on top of the MFI throttles.
I'm using a slightly tapered adapter to make the transition down to 40mm to match the throttles that have enlarged butterflies. Basically going for looks here. There's too much internal volume for engines smaller than 3.6. I think it's possible to permanently close off some of the internal volume however. This is the GT3 plenum that is known to drop screws into your motor so I plan to remove the resonance flaps. I'll tack weld the three sections together and take it to a welder.

Had some pics to share of an aluminum engine bracket I fabbed, just for practice welding. Still learning to weld this stuff. Straight runs turn out a lot better than all the twists and turns you have joining the tiny tubes, so yes, looks a little goofy.
It's 6061-T6, 0.125 wall. I used more cross-section than the factory piece, because the aluminum is not as strong as the steel used in the factory piece. Problem with structural aluminum is that it needs to be checked regulary for corrosion and cracks. I recently found a good deal on some titanium Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) material. That material does not fatigue (crack) nearly as quickly as aluminum does. Plus, it's much stronger than aluminum. I plan to make one using the titanium as well. Still using the sand-cast engine case! Still 2808 cc. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
