Ready for some exploratory road trips for the next year getting it ready for Rennsort IV and the 5,000 mile road trip it will entail. It has only been a point and shoot for the last couple of decades accumulating less than 10,000 miles.Hope to have it ready for some curvy mountain roads with the new suspension upgrades.

My warhorse. It's my daily beater. It gets ridden hard and cherished all in the same day.
Much love

I could sell it for much more than I have in it, but it was bought as a bucket list item, not an investment. It gets driven to work, DE, cross country, grocery store, just because...

Possible? I think so, but I believe the definition of enthusiast that Bryan refers to is the people who tinker with these cars, try to improve the performance, and try to keep them relevant contenders on the street and track vs. modern day cars (bearing in mind that even a Nissan Altima has 300hp). Bryan's point (IMO) is that his brand of enthusiast wants to discuss what turbocharger or intercooler upgrade to do vs. a discussion of whether one should remove the cosmoline from their 5k mile concours queen.

There is room in the world for both types, but I don't think they often mingle well.

Wow, some really fine looking clunkers y'all have! As truely an enthusiast by common definition, I guess I should throw in my high-mileage-with-history 930. I haven't been able to enjoy it much this fall, but next spring.....look out, I'M BACK!!!

Checkmate, I guess. As you say there is room for both, IMO they should mingle well.

Guess I should go join the historic car society instead

I believe that there's more of us with few Pcars, if u want to call those "collectors". I drive mine, at least weekly, so I'm a user - I guess.

^GMAFB tony I believe I can speak for EVERYONE who regularly visits or posts on this forum and say: we all appreciate concours cars, and pristine original examples. Nice thing to look at, but you can't touch it now, can you? If that's your bag, good for you, have fun with it. You wanna park your car and not accumulate miles and obsess over minutiae that scores points at Pebble Beach? That's alright by me. Its your car, you paid your money for it, do with it as you please. Just don't tell me that I shouldn't mod/drive/enjoy mine the way I want to...my car, my money, my brand of enthusiasm for the marque. You are the guy who said publicly on this forum that '79s should not be driven, right?

Agree we should mingle well because of a similar taste in cars, but we often don't because some folks start talking about devaluing a car. Let's take fine wine as an analogy. Let's say many years ago you paid a modest sum of $ for a few cases of wine. Its sitting in your cellar now, but as the years have past, that wine is now getting a lot of attention by a group of nuevo wine snobs as being a particularly important vintage and now those bottles are worth 4x what you paid. You've been drinking it, you taste why its so special and you enjoy drinking it, but the nuevo wine snobs are telling you: "you can't do that, its too valuable, too important, you need to save it for a special occasion" Its your wine though, so who the hell are these people telling you not to drink it?

Drink the bottle, or admire the bottle sitting in your cellar?

Driver_aka the Black Widow

Here my driver. I am presently working away so she is sitting in my Grandmother's house! She has a few small needs, ... and a few bigger ones like new turbo and RL8 exhaust! One of these days.

Hey Jake...good job putting tony in place.

This past weekend I participated in PCA Palooza in Arkansas. We need to give these cars a chance to roam the roads rather than worrying about "devaluing" these things.

Mine's a red one:

Did not intend to spark any flames, kind of amusing... live and let live and all that. Collector or Tuner we are all enthusiastic about 930s or why own one AND be on this forum.

Please don't make this a pissing match between the Wine & Cheese crowd vs Beer & Brats, it's all good. The "clunker club" title is simply tongue in cheek as the garage queens are so much more valuable than cars that are driven. I want to give a shout out to the guys who wrench and mod their own cars and drive 'em like they stole 'em. I have even known a few very special folks who have done all of the above; driven their modded car to the PCA regional meets an took home 1st in the auto-x AND concourse.

You all have some awseome looking drivers!
Every 911/930 I have owned was a misfit of some sort. I prefer it that way as they can be modified with zero regret.
Case in point, the Red Rocket. Started out as a butt-ugly avacado green / tangerine leather 911SC and ended up one of the most fun cars I ever owned. Turbo looks and power with a 915 gearbox and light weight.

My kids grew up in that car. She is now a freshman in HS and he is a sophmore in college.

Now we have what my daughter named "the Gray Ghost". A neglected dealer-converted Euro slant that sat for years in a shed waiting for rescue. This is the Rodney Dangerfield of slant nose 930s. Dealer converted and a federalized Euro car. Best bang for the buck I ever owned.
Friends, family and cars, it gets no better. Cannot wait till the day I get to drive this car to the Dragon.
