Hi all just enquiring if anyone has or knows of a sequential shifter system for a G50 transmission.... I am after something a little different then the ones on offer...

That shifter would be worth every penny. I did the money shift going from near redline in 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th.

From what I have seen, the cable set ups would not fit between my torsion tube and the box. I would assume that a sequential linkage would be similar.

Sequential shifting via steering wheel paddles is becoming a popular conversion on Tiptronic 964's. I'm not aware of any conversion for 930/G50 transmissions.

having worked on a lot of Motorcycle transmissions and Porsche transmissions
you would have to change the the whole trans or guts or change from syncros to dogs in order to get True instant shift with cut of the ignition - |

And up-shifting without clutching, too (you were probably talking about that). Probably not much use for that technique on the street, but for the track, super fun and useful. I roadraced motorcycles for 10 years, was scared to do clutchless up-shifting at first, but once I tried it, there was no going back.
A sequential shift transmission conversion is something I would do if I had the bookoo resources of some that post here - really luvs me some of that! Last edited by Ronnie's.930; 03-28-2015 at 10:29 AM.. |

I am using this sequential system by SQS on my 996gt2 turbo Trans.
It does require the clutch, which saves wear+tear on the syncros , etc. Shifting is now linear movement on the stick : forward or back Check SQS website for 930 Trans compatability. ![]()

Sequentials are amazing. The H pattern has got to be the most time and energy wasting method of shifting ever. (Don't harrass me for not being a purist, I'm just being realistic. I've been H shifting for 45 years, and have raced with traditional Porsche transaxles, Hewlands, and Top Loaders).

The old 930 transaxle synchro units are too slow acting for a sequential shifter. It would kill them.
Borg Warner synchro units in the G50 are much faster acting. |
