Has anybody used Joe Gibbs Driven 15w-50 Synthetic yet?

Joe Gibbs oil is some of the best I've seen and just saw these formulations for the first time:

I would love to try it... and have been giving it serious thought (especially once I am running straight E-85), but at $20 a quart ( for the DT-50), that's a whole heap of money. (mine takes 16 to 18 quarts, with the huge oil coolers up front)

Direct from Gibbs with free shipping, it is $11.99/qt. I've seen worse. $10/79/qt with the case discount:

WOW, not bad!!! I live close to Summit Racing in South Atlanta, so I can walk in and get it. The last time I checked, it was $20 a quart. (that was last year, so might have changed)

But, $12 a quart is VERY doable!

Kenik, I too am interested in trying the Gibbs air cooled formula. I noticed that Chris Powell used Gibbs break in oil in my newly rebuilt 3.4 turbo where I believe he previously used Rotella for break ins.

Been using it for a couple thousand miles now without any issue. Was recommended by my indy mechanic highlighting some of the benefits posted in the OP. Picked up a case through Amazon for a about the same price with Prime.

I am using the non-syn joe gibbs in my rebuilt 86 951.

have run two versions on dino break in oil during the past 1,000 miles or so. getting ready to put in the non-syn version for the DE. don't have the codes handy. from discussion with Lindsey Racing about this when building the 951, I am using non-syn for this car.

from what I understand, the big issues for using syn are heat and longer change intervals.

I have a 3X oil cooler on the 951 and will change oil a couple times a year (or more) depending on the number of track days.

for my street cars I have been using mobil-1 15/50 syn but am considering a change to JG syn.

I stopped by my local Summit Racing retail store (McDonough, GA) and looked at their prices for the DT-50. Looks like with the 10% off case discount, it will be below $10 a quart... sounds good to me!! ( The XP6 Joe Gibbs Racing oil is $18 a quart. Don't know exactly the difference between the two)

I just jumped in balls deep...a case of break in oil and 2 cases of 15w-50 DT50. Should be able to report back within a couple of weeks.

Yup, am now running it on my rebuilt motor. Ran it in on the dyno using Millers CRO running in oil, then changed it once fully bedded in for the power runs. Recommended by Charles Navarro of LN Engineering, who's barrels I'm using. Too early to give any thoughts yet
