BAH, 930forum 930schmorum... we talk enough about them here, 99% of us are just gearheads in general and appreciate variety as a spice of life.

AWESOME color, really nice build you did there. My bud's is metallic black with metallic grey ghost stripes.

Very cool, thanks for sharing...

Pretty hard to tell if it's a 930S or 930SE engine from just photos. The IC does look like an 'S'/SE intercooler. The turbo engines came with K27-7006 turbos. Yours is an '83, so I don't know if Porsche equipped the earlier Special Wishes engines w/7006's. The cams for S/SE engines were marked with SC castings. I'm assuming they are SC grinds....haven't confirmed the lobe profiles. The left cam came with a machined adapter that attached to the rear of the cam to drive the turbo sump pump.
The high output engines, for the slants anyway, did come with a front mounted oil cooler....don't know about the regular production body-types.

The good news, however, is that Porsche was able to retrieve records from the Werk I facility on the Sonderwunsch Programme. This information should be available in the very near future from the the PCNA with their COA's.

Thanks for the help. One last question. Did the 330BHP engine have a different code than 930/66 ? Thats what's stamped on mine. I searched ,and read the flatnose thread but couldn't find the answer. I sent for a C.O.A. and they said they would check werk1/special wishes. Thanks

No, they did not have any other engine code/type assigned to them.

Dave,
Thanks for your historical knowledge and expertise. The slant nose thread was fun and really informative. Jeff

Another way to confirm a 930 S/SE engine is to look at the ignition timing decal on top of the fan housing. The 930S engine will reference 25 degrees BTDC; the 930 will be 29.

all these years I heard the SE (common on 505 cars right?) package had a different IC, but I have never actually seen one until today.

Cool!

I never knew such a thing existed....where can i study up on 930S and SE engines?

I always just though the 505 cars were appearance packages, 'regular' 930 running gear.

505's were appearance packages, however they did have the oil cooler tucked in the passenger-side rear brake vent. The 330 BHP engines were not available on 505's, only SE's and Sonderwunsch (with the proper SOW option code).

Hi Jeff,

Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner but I've been ill. From the pictures you posted it looks like the exhaust is the standard factory one. The holes next to the exhaust are for the rear fog light for ROW cars. From 87-89 the fog lights were integrated into the rear centre reflector.

Their is a gentleman in Vancouver that has a 1989 Turbo with the full S engine package. This car is one of ten that were built by Porsche for France. He has posted on RennL. I've seen the car and the exhaust is pretty tricked too. Twin dual pipes but the right side for exhaust and the left side for the wastgate.
