porsche 930 after market turbo advise

I have a 1979 porsche 930 and It is getting a fresh rebuild and I am upgrading the exhaust, turbo, kokeln intercooler with the bypass kit and either sc or c2 cams as well as for porting and polishing the exhaust, I am keeping the stock euro fuel system. My question what is the best after market turbo for the money, I want a faster spooling turbo and less turbo lag and I am not looking for crazy top end, just a well rounded power band. The kokeln bypass kit helps the turbo kick in 1000 rpm sooner than stock. I hope this enough information.

Hey, not wishing to be unhelpful at all - thats not what we do - but there's seriously tonnes of threads on here discussing options.

The way I see it is that if you want to stick to a Borg Warner for ease, then perhaps a hybrid K27 based unit from Rarly....or another well-trodden path is a Garrett GT35R (I've just used this one on my rebuild), but to make use of the twin scrolling/quick spooling function, you are going to need to rework your exhaust system....or then there's the slightly less common units like Turbonetics, etc., which also seem to yield good results.

Can't recommend Chris @TurboKraft highly enough, very experienced and a big fan of Garrett (with good reason), so I'm sure he'll be able to both guide and sell you the best fit for your application.

ETA - I had the same brief as you - I didn't want BS crazy high numbers, just a really drivable midrange and quick spool

The euro CIS is going to be the limiting factor that everything else should be built around. You can only flow so much fuel through that which puts a cap on your HP numbers. A nice set of higher compression Pistons would probably be one of your biggest bang for the buck considerations. A turbo that will flow enough air for 700hp will be nothing more than a waste of money.

I would go with RarlyL8 headers, muffler and turbo. One stop awesomeness for drivability. Install two good fuel pumps (044?) and an adjustable WUR (Brian Leask) and I think you can get that too from Rarly. If you deside to get more power later your base is set with these upgrades.

Look at the Borg-Warner S200 line of turbos.

Please explain what this is. I don't know how a bypass can shed 1000rpm of lag. A good exhaust system will though.

The least expensive turbo is a known-good used one. Very tricky buying used turbos but if you can see it in action or know the seller personally then a great bargain.
