2007 911 Turbo Values - Up/Down/Sideways
I'm looking at buying a 2007 911 Turbo on a short timeline...PPI scheduled for tomorrow morning. 30,000 miles silver on black 6 speed. Looking for information on the valuation trends on these cars. Looking to get back into a Pcar but want something that has bottomed out or appreciating. I like 993's on the $$ side but the 997's ignite my passion.
Thank you all! Chris

I really like the 2007 997 Turbo, as well. As such, I have followed them over the years. They are still slowly depreciating...993's are going up. But very different animals, me thinks, anyway...

If I was in the market, I'd get a "Metzger" turbo from the early 2000's

I've been taking a look at early 997.1 Turbos and 996 Turbos. For me it would be mainly an "everyday" Porsche that has mostly modern conveniences, easy to drive, and where I don't mind putting a bunch of commuter miles on the car (I drive 40 miles each way). I still drive my air cooled's plenty, but wouldn't mind having an everyday car like this. There's a PCA member in my area here who has 450K+ miles on his 996 Turbo, has literally bit a 4 season (New England) daily driver for over a decade. So when properly maintained they've got plenty of longevity.
The 996 Turbos are probably at or close to the bottom of the depreciation slope, as iceman said they 997s probably will depreciate more. Neither is likely to become collectible or appreciate in the next decade or more, but in terms of value for money it's pretty hard to beat a 996 Turbo for $35-45K or a 997 Turbo for $60-70K.

I agree with what Lee88 said, but what are up with the 997 turbos at $50k? I always seem to find one or two every time I'm looking, they usually have 50k miles or so, solid color of black or silver etc.
Also, aren't the 997 turbos just as reliable as the old metzger motor in the 996TT? |

The 997.1 Turbo (thru '09) is still a Mezger motor, like the 996 Turbo / GT3 / etc. In general they've had a very high level of reliability, given they're derived from endurance racing motor. The later 997.2 Turbos have a different motor which introduced DFI. The 997 (starting w/ 997.1) also introduced variable geometry turbos which was different from 996 Turbo.
Most good 997 Turbos seem to be selling in the $65-75K range these days and there's plenty available. There are some rare color or extremely low mileage ones that sell for $80K plus. The ones that are down in the $50-60K range tend to have high mileage (not inherently bad if car has been well maintained), or other stories (lots of mods, track time, accident or paintwork, etc).
