It ran just like a stock car with a k27. We'll fix that.

Here are a couple pictures of our re-designed adapter, you can see it is shorter and contours better to the ID of the turbo than cutting off the bottom of the up-pipe and adding a hose.

Great. Thank you Brian for the pics. Hopefully it get here Mon or Tues and I'll report back once installed. Is there an O ring on the turbo side also?
|
Yes there is an o-ring on the turbo outlet and an o-ring for the up-pipe inlet. These are a tight fit as they should be so use plenty of oil/lube and guide the o-ring while installing so it does not get pinched. That is a common cause of boost leaks.
|
Brian, adapter received, nice piece. Test fit- is slips over the turbo outlet nicely but not the charge pipe won't fit, the intake pipe is in the way. I could take a hammer to it, but I though I'd ask for suggestions first.....

You need to pull the intercooler to get it to fit.
|
maybe I can rotate the turbo somehow, perhaps the bracket needs some work...its pouring rain in my garage right now so it'll have to wait!
|
Ravi,
Before breaking out the hammer, cutoff wheel or trying to clock the turbo compressor and/or turbine housings, try loosening the hose clamps on the short section of silicone hose that attaches the multi-bent intake pipe to the compressor intake - might even need to remove the hose and re-install once the intercooler pipe is in place. Though it doesn't move much, doing that allows the "should I hammer it" pipe a little wiggle room (not to be confused with Kenik's definition of "to wiggle the pipe"!). |
Whoops, I forgot to suggest to also loosen or remove the short piece of hose that connects the same pipe (topside) to the secondary intake manifold - then the bent pipe can move about quite a bit when both ends of it are free.
|
Yes, I started to do just that...but the rains came, I live in rainy Seattle and don't have a garage! Some day soon....

The sad reality in Kirkland right now......boo hooo.......LG in so many other ways, I thank my lucky stars.....http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1457747187.jpg

It's a tight area.
No need to remove anything. Get a large flat blade screwdriver and use it as a lever to push the convoluted down pipe over while wiggling the up-pipe in place. Use lots of oil on the o-ring and the up-pipe will pop into place. |
I just read Brian's post as Ronnie. I almost spit out my beverage.

Don't let his squeaky clean facade fool you, Kenik - based on Brian's innuendo rich post above, he is suitably pervaliciaous! |
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll get to it when the rain stops - looks like that's not until next Thursday!

Once you get the pipe fitted, for your off-boost performance , check the dizzy is advancing. If the mechanical advance freezes up (common), it is hopeless pre boost performance.
