Yes, MS3 will run COP directly. the original poster has a MS1 V3, which won't run spark at all. The Microsquirt will run a 4 cylinder COP, but not a 6 cylinder without some modifications. It would STILL be a wasted spark set up. EDIS is just much simpler. In order to go sequential COP, you would need a Cam position sensor, which complicates things just a little bit more. I guess it is how technical you want to get with it. With my setup EDIS was stone cold reliable, and i was also able to concoct a wasted spark COP system.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have more questions lol.
I've recently lost a bid on Ebay for the Carrera intake manifold I was planning to run. I've hacked up the stock airbox so It's basically a throttle body with a plastic plenum under it. My concern is that is has one of those "pop-off" valves on it for backfires. Obviously, I can't leave this if I'm running boost. My plan was to just Jb-Weld it shut. Sounds ghetto, but am I wrong to assume it would hold 10psi? Would the plastic plenum even hold 10psi? I've also decided to tune for fuel only and run a dizzy for first start. Tackling spark/fuel at the same time seems like it would complicate things a bit. Nobody has come forward with a base fuel/spark tune to copy so it will be easiest for me to handle one at a time. |
Hill3312 -- we make and sell that heavy duty stainless turbo hanger bracket, available for both early (1976-83) and late (1984-89) applications.

Are there issues with coil charge rates, dwell, or coils heating up, or something I'm missing that makes a wasted spark setup so much less desirable? Or is it just the elegance of sequential that is so seductive? AFAICT Microsquirt can run 6 cyl wasted spark setup with CNP. Not sure about COP, but I'm having a hard time figuring out why 3wire COP is so different than a CNP setup. |
With EDIS and wasted, IIRC, at 7k RPM, you are about out of dwell time. The coil pack is nearing 100% duty cycle.

Any feedback on the stock SC intake boys?

Edit: Here is thread where a guy mentions running the BAE kit for 20+ years at 9-11psi without issue: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/90065-911sc-turbo.html |

Update: Test fit the motor today to make sure the turbo fits and to map out intercooler piping. Everything looks good! The engine is going back on the stand tomorrow to be completed, then back in the car she goes! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1513734082.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1513734082.jpg |
The pop valve once jb welded will work fine.
If I were you I’d sel more shades and buy a Carrera manifold. |

Check around. Recyclers May have one. I wish you wouldn’t have hacked up that sc intake. Even 8 years ago it made sense but these days porsche parts are valuable. You could have offset the cost better.
Also maybe do a post here wtb add in the classifieds. I know they’re not cheep but you should be able to still get one for 800-1200 and it’s worth it. |

Hill3312, I do agree with QuattroRunner that it is worth it to get the Carrera manifold, just be patient. |
Just found this on Rennlist, looks like Jon at EBS has a 3.2 he is parting out, including the intake manifold:

BTW on the engine install itself, you need this.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1513791291.jpg
Coupled with a board that fits your exhaust this will make what appears to be a three man job doable with only one man easily....really. And attach the trans to the engine first on final install as it's way easier to get it done completely as a unit.. |
For $2300, I'll throw on my 964 intake on top of my 3.2 intake I've offered to sale to the OP and install it at his place.
Wow! |

One man with all exhaust and trans as a unit. Taken right after done. Long time ago. |
