bit of turbo help req'd

Guys, I bought a used K27-7006 to try on the track beast. I allowed for the fact it may need a rebuild. Now that it is stripped down, there is a bit of damage inside and I need a part. Hopefully someone may have a dismantled 27-7006 with an intact shaft/turbine. The turbine wheel that is attached to the shaft has hit something solid, presumably as it passed thru the turbo.
Thanks
Alan

durabuilt did my 7006. they had to replace the shaft in it too. not that expensive,.
you may be able to get the shaft from them too.

too bad. I have been wanting better boost response and may have sold you mine if I could find something that would give me what I want

I have been quoted about $400 for the shaft. Then the rebuild costs. On top of original cost. Would have been cheaper to buy a new unit if I have to buy a new shaft, I think.
Regards
Alan

I would like better boost response too - less lag. I seem to have induced another 500 rpm lag with the Elgin cam. Not sure what the answer is. If you find one, hopefully you will post the formula.
I have seen others posting full boost at around 3000 with SC cams and another turbo (the make escapes me). (Rarelyl8 had a combo like that I think)

good luck, a 7006 that "needs rebuild" can cost upwards of 1500 bucks as-is. I know, I already have one and have been looking for another for about 3 months.

Rebuild underway at present. Cost a bit less than that (incl new shaft), but labour costs here may be less.
Just a query - what cam are you running, and what boost characteristics have you got?
Regards
Alan

Alan, the Red Rocket hit full boost (stock 0.75bar) at 2800RPM, so 1.0bar would come just a tick later ~3000rpm. I ran SC cams with K27-7200 turbo, my headers/muffler/IC. The 7006 is about 400rpm later than the 7200.

Thanks Brian, so the 7200 is a fast spooling turbo?
And with the 7006 you would expect full boost at around 34-3500 then. I would be happy with that.
but on my current 3LDZ, seem to have lost about 400 rpm with the Elgin cam. At least that is my conclusion at this point. With stock cam the 3 LDZ was coming in at 3000 and max at 3500.
I am now at around 3800-4000.
Will the 7006 make this worse or better?
Thanks
Alan
