Piston Question

I'm in the midst of a rebuild, and can't locate replacement piston circlips (the ones that hold the piston pin in place). Will generic hardware-store steel circlips do the job, or is there a specialized part that I need to track down? Haven't been able to locate the latter in the pelican or performance products catalogs...

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Thanks!

Step away from the Performance Products catalog. Just set it down and no one will get hurt or pay too much.
Try the Porsche dealer or Engine Builder's Supply if Pelican doesn't have them.

The circlips are available. DO NOT USE hardware store clips. They are a total unknown and you would be better off re using the old ones, however don't do this either. I think I got the clips thru IMC. Any local porsche engine builder or parts supplier should be able to obtain them for you. Stoddard also comes to mind. You might also try a machine shop like Ollies in Santa Ana, CA.
