Torque value with plus sign?
What does it signify if a torque value looks like this: 50 + 5 ?
not 50+/-5 degrees (unless it shorthand for the latter, but i doubt an angle gauge would make sense in this application). Does it mean tighten to 50 Nm, then add 5 more (for total 55) and re-tighten? or what???? TIA ![]()

I’ve only seen those on drain plugs... I’ve always assumed they meant 50 and if it leaks go to 55.
Never had a drain plug leak with seal ring. |

This is from a ZF manual for power steering rack rebuild - both notations are used. Some of them would be pretty hard to get at if they leaked after reassembly

This is a guess, but I would say that those are tolerances......of 50+5...I.E. +5/-0 spec, resulting in a torque value of 50-55 (although I can't say I've seen them expressed quite that way before)
However, some of the other specs, like the tie rod show typical +/- tolerances of 80 +/-8 giving you a spec value of 72-88. regards, al
