Part identification

Rebuilding an 86 3.2 after a long period of idleness..
Got a bit left over.. Anyone know where it goes?

its A little big. Maybe holds the turbo oil can on a turbo. Bolts to the vertical bolts under the distributor on the case. But that’s for a turbo application and it’s too big for stock
Generally, it doesn’t look factory.

have you since done any work on a 1.8 VW or Audi? Looks just like the CV axle cover below the exhaust on the right side.

Mysterious part........

That part does not belong to a Carrera 3.2 motor. Someone familiar with this part would eventually identify it.
