'72/'73 2.4L/2.7L GE Head Gasket
What is correct side to face cylinder head?
The GE head gasket on a 1973 2.4/2.7 that seal the cylinder to the head is not symmetrical. One side of gasket seem longer and sharper, and hides the spring inside the gasket. The other side seems a bit rounder and there is a bit of exposed spring. The gasket sits proud of groove in cylinder with spring in and fit inside with spring out. Thank you. |

You most assuredly want the edge that sets proud so there is some crush taking place

It actually sits proud regardless of side. Is there a definitive side that faces the head?

Long edge to the cylinder, but it really doesn’t matter

Long edge to cylinder feels better than other way around.
