rebuild complete, engine fired up today!

Last week, I posted the forum about my rebuilt engine, and the problems I was having. The problem seemed like a timing problem, but it turned out to be a vacuum leak.

Today, I replaced the plastic port that holds the cold start valve and the vacuum line from the auxiliary air valve and auxiliary air regulator. It started right up, smoked for about the first ten minutes at 2000 rpm, and now is ready for a test drive, as soon as I adjust the clutch.

I changed out the oil after the twenty minutes, and didn't find much at all in the way of metal. Then I started it up, set the timing, and just listened to it for a moment.

Rebuilding my engine has been an incredibly challenging and fulfilling experience. The best part, aside from having completed it, was meeting so many good and generous people in the process.

Many Thanks.

Congratulations, go let that Baby rip. After the "break-in" period of course.

Way to go Daniel! It's a nail biter the first time you turn the key isn't it?

Yes, it was a nail-biter, but it felt so good when it finally started.

Thanks y'all.

I share your excitement. I fired mine up today after the re-install. My oil leaks are fixed!!

Congrats to you. It feels good to fix problems...especially after many long hours on a project.

Congrats from me too. I've just refurbished and detailed my engine and even that taught me so much and gave me a sense of personal achievement.
