bypass

hello ,

I will put a carrera 3.0 oil pump and I will change the pressure relief valve , but I'm wandering what are the consequences if the bypass is not drilled in the block (a pre 73 one) ? I ve seen some engines (before 73') which have not the new bypass and they were ok....
thanks for my knolwledge

You will have oil pressure problems if you use a newer-style oil pump with the older-style cases without doing the bypass. If you are not going to do this simple mod, then use your original pump...

Not True, the only difference the turbo pump modification makes is where the bypass oil is routed. Before the mod, oil pressure when released goes into the bottom end of the engine, after the bypass it is routed to the intake (suction) side of the pump. The purpose of the mod is to keep oil out of the bottom end.
The pump will function the same and oil pressure will be the same.
I have run an SC pump a early case with no mod and no issues.
