Keeping the right side chain tensioned to set timing?

Anyone have any quick ingenious ideas rather than getting the tool? i would prefer the tool but don't have the time to wait for it as i need to get this motor done by friday.

I have a P204 tool but i don't think that is going to work or will it?

Anyone have any cool tools they used or things they did to keep the tension?

I'm not sure what tool you're talking about, but I use mechanical chain adjusters when setting the timing. They're pretty cheap and you could get them next day'd to you. If you live in Houston, I have a set.

Install your idler pulley, and use a large C-clamp under the idler foot, and the top of the chain housing if you are in a pinch.

The tool wasn't too great for the RH side, but it worked nicely for the left, since it kept tension on the idler arm, and kept the pad where the chain tensioner rests on free. I'm also in Chicago if you need it. I live in the West Loop.

Yes, the P204 tool will work on the right side. It's not obvious but it does.

I recently moved to park ridge but i used to live by 90 and Lawrence exit for all of my life.

My brother is the one who owns the 911 i just work on it and occasionally drive it

So how does the P204 tool work on that side?

I think you have to collapse it as far as possible. I forget where I put it. If I get a chance, I'll dig out a chainbox and tensioner and take a picture today.

Sorry I can't get out to the garage to take a picture. There's been a wigged out blue jay in my garage all day who's too stupid to fly out. When I go out there he gets all stressed like he's overheating. Maybe it's really a Blonde Jay.

Henry awesome pictures, i figured out a way to use the P204 tool with a socket to tension the right side. Thanks for all the options though!
