3.0SC rebuild dilemma

I’m about to rebuild my 79SC engine, my question is: “is it worth going with the 98mm P&C’s if I plan to keep the CIS?” Whether I go with re-ringed 95mm or 98mm my plan was to change the cam and update to SSI’s.

I do have a few other questions:

1) What would be the best cam profile to use with the CIS? (I don’t necessarily need low end torque)
2) Are there any upgrades to the CIS system I can perform?
3) Is it worth going with 95mm “high compression” pistons?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

Stu

PS: I don’t mind spending the money, but it has to be worthwhile!

Yes plenty of info out there on the 3.0 cis and engine ideas. Just to let you know my dad's car has a 78 3.0, 20/21 cams, pop off valve, msd, SSI's with a two in two out muffler and is nice and strong. You can get the revs up there and it really pulls. A decent amount of low end grunt but nothing neck snapping. Right now we are debating whether or not to build it to a 3.4 or plop in a mostly stock 3.2
