These V8 guys just misses the point of an air-cooled 911 engine making all the cool noises as it delivers the time honored 911 experience.....a unique experience that says PORSCHE with your eyes closed. It's a complicated mixture of seat of the pants acceleration with the dramatic high pitched whines and air-craft takeoff noises from high revs to generate the speed and balance built/engineered into the series and preserved throughout all series development (until the 996 water-cooled run of the mill type of engines). All of a sudden words like too easy, bordering on boreing, starts to creep into the description for the newer 911's which are creeping towards the v8's in spirit.

I worked for a company who contracted to have several of these V8 conversions built by a company in Las Vegas. The thought "P-cars with bad engines, plus cheap Chev motors=$$$"
They dropped several cars off there, and after 1 year they didn't have one that would actually "Work". Lots of flowery talk, but the cars overheated, leaked, and generally didn't work. And these were cars built by the conversion company in their own shop! Keep it Porsche. I agree that you should ask someone who has owned one for a while, not someone who is "Building" one. if you must try a V8, go with Rod Simpson, he has been doing it the longest. Ram |

If it didn't leak something it wouldn't be a Porsche.
