intermediate shaft replacement-what does it involve?
just cleaned up my intermediate shaft and the teeth on the ally drive gear look quite badly worn on the connecting side. im assuming that this means replacement so how do you go about removing it/replacing it?
Thanks, Andy P.S. anyone got a good '0' intermediate shaft drive gear for sale?

I've done it before. I think I just used a gear puller. You know, one of those 3 arm ones. I think I heated up the aluminum gear but I can remember.

I took mine to a shop to have it pulled. I put the new one on myself by heating up the sproket and putting the shaft in the freezer. Just be ready to pound the sprocket back on before the temps equalize. The gear just bolts on. Get new locking tabs. I got a new gear from EBS as well as the locking tabs.

Andy
Dont assume it means replacing, They get quite a pitted look from the chain chatter, Make up a bracket and measure the backlash, I made one from a bit of flat steel and mounted the z block onto it It is more than likely in spec HTH Neven |
