Oil pump for race car
I am looking to build a small displacement turbo, so I am starting with a sand cast case.
I am looking for a suitable oil pump. Will a newer (95 and up) oil pump work, does that equal or exceed the carrera or early turbo oil pump. Thanks Ed |

The GT3R or 930 pumps seem to come up a lot in these conversations

Turbo pump first if you can find one, second choice is the 964 pump

Consider the GT3 pump. More pump than the turbo and less expensive. You'll want all the oil you can get to keep that engine's maintenance within your budget. The 964 pump may be as large as either of these, but it has no cast iron casing sections. It is lighter, but the rap seems to be that it is less dimensionally stable at high temperatures. For any of these pumps you'll have to clearance the case (the next south main bearing web mainly), but you can do it yourself. I used a cutoff wheel, and then a die grinder on my 930 case.
