Thanks Brian. Your build was an inspiration for me even though I was shooting for a street-only car. I'm using a TechEdge 2A0 wideband with the Bosch 7057 sensor. I've still got a little cable problem with it so the signal is a little jumpy. That means it's good enough to monitor and set the VE table, but not good enough to autotune. I'm going to have to rewire the plugs to get it to settle down (WB02 and sensor is very steady in my other car so I'm almost positive it is the cable).

It was kind of scary trying to do a full high performance rebuild and bringing up a new EFI and ignition system at the same time, but it saved a ton of rework (since it worked). Break-in was a little nerve racking

Also, I thought I'd share a tip of the hat to Chuck Miller (and Ed) at MillerSport in Hillsborough, NC. Chuck is a long-time Porsche/VW specialist and agreed to oversee my tear-down and rebuild. I told him I was looking for access to tools and expertise and he agreed for a reasonable rate. I ended up doing 99.9% of the work, but Chuck was always there to answer a question or to ask "Why are you doing it that way? :-) He had many of the parts I needed right there in the shop or could get them in a day or so. If you can work out an arrangement with someone like Chuck the first time you do a rebuild, it can save you a lot of trouble. They are great guys!
I have done the top end 2 years ago but yes, its always nerve wrecking to fire her up the 1st time after the rebuild. And, I've decided to be brave and do fueling AND ignition control at the same time. Still hoping to be done by June - still waiting on my P&C though

And yes, I also have Chris Kirby of K&B Auto to help me out. 100% invaluable.

Mike,

Did you buy the MegaSquirt II v 3.0 in a kit complete (with ignition and injection) or did you piece it together yourself? I am thinking of going the same direction. I am also thinking of Tec-3 system too.

Thanks

Mike,

What should my budget be (excluding manifold cost) to do an EFI upgrade like your setup?

For fueling only (not ignition) if you buy assembled units and already have a wide band O2 meter:
MSII - $410
Relay board - $90
cables - $100
Stimulator (helps in calibrating sensors) - $75
Throttle position sensor - $60
Oil/water temp sensor - $30
Air temp sensor - $30
misc wire, resistors, zip ties - $40
heat shrink - $15
tape - $8
fuel injectors - $350-$400
connectors $40
shipping $50

This assumes you're pretty handy with electronics and have the basic soldering equipment already. I'm probably forgetting something, but this would get you in the ballpark.

Twin-plug EDIS6 (dual controllers, dual coils, single VR sensor) driven by the MegaSquirt II. I give a lot of details in this thread. I bought the EDIS parts and Magnecor wires from Brian at Boost Engineering. Figure between $350-$450 if you get used parts (EDIS) and new wires. Plugs depend on what you put in.

Can a WB controller like Innovate LC-1 be connected directly to MS-II? If so, there shouldn't be any need for the LM-1 since all the logging can be done from MS-II. Correct?

Hi Arnljot,
The Innovate LC-1 should work just fine. Here's a thread on the Megasquirt forum on setting it up.
