Is there a better air cleaner box/filter for the Turbo?

I recall reading that the Turbo 3.0 and 3.3 motors benefit from a K&N, or similar, alternative to the big, kludgy thing that Porsche put on the cars. Is this true? Any recommendations for my Turbo 3.0 motor, which is finally nearing completion?

Stephen Kaspar at Imagine auto had some dyno testing on this you might give him a shout. There are several differnt opinions on this, but the dyno does not lie Porschephd@imagineauto.com

Tom: Unfortunately, "big, kludgy thing" is very well made, has big paper filter and sucks air right where it should. Arguably, only gain you can get from going to K&N is aesthetical.

Paper filter is replaceable, cheap and works well. I would leave it as it is.

To add to Goran's comments, I drilled the stock box, addiing 6 1" holes. I have dyno's that show 400+ rwhp - CIS - with the stock drilled box. Since I went to EFI, mine is for sale (black powder coated too).
