Good timing! I will be sealing my case in a few weeks. To add to the question above. Can nylock nuts be used on the case perimeter? Or are the factory style nuts that are deformed slightly the way to go.

I bought the hardware rebuild set from our host. Highly recommend. Mostly uses nylock for perimeter, but a few of the special deformed style lock nuts for some of the interior requiements such as oil pump and other locations.

Nylock on perimeter is fine. Most of the gasket kits don't have the aluminum crush washers anymore. They have steel washer instead. I don't like them so I use the old aluminum washers. You can also buy the aluminum crush washers (probably from Pelican). If Pelican doesn't have them I bet EBS does.

FWIW, I would have sworn that the case perimeter washers that I removed were magnetic (hardened steel). My engine had never been apart before. Anyway, I used new hardened washers and new nyloc nuts on my case perimeter.
