The long block is pretty much done. Just put some new JB weld on the chain box pins so they can go on tomorrow and I can finish timing after I am out of class. Deck height checked out the same on the right (4,5,6) as on the left (1,2,3) as well as the valve to piston clearance. As far as the coolant temp (oil) sensor location goes I got the go ahead on that location from some other builders along with Mike over at motomotions. Its the input for the ecu and not the dash.

Tonights progress was getting the heads on the right side and cam towers. Then test fit the shroud and did some trimming so it fit nicely around the ITB's and everywhere else. Going to try and sandblast the 993 heat exchangers to clean them up a bit or just hot tank them and a little wire brush action. Its pretty much smooth sailing as far as the motor goes from here on in, Need to get the motor and trans in the car this weekend so I can double check wire lengths before I cut them and shrink wrap and start hooking everything up.

Does anyone have a wire diagram for the alternator itself or simply what goes to it? I also want to discard as much of the stock wire harness in the engine bay, the two relays and the 3 fuse block. I dont think most any of it is needed at this point aside from sending the signals from engine sensors up to the dash.

That reminds me I still have to cut the holes for the filter baseplates for the jenveys, they looked so good without them I didnt want to put them on...

Gorgeous man, gorgeous. I went as far as cleaning the engine bay and putting new stock insulation in - and powder coated everything but the fan - but I'm so tired of seeing it in the garage I'm taking the fast track at this point.

If you ever plan on heading up to NoCal (PCH is a nice drive in a 911) let me know - I know a lot of p-car owners who would love to give your engine a nice drool-cleaning.

I think once this is broken in I will head up 5, cut across 46, then 41 to my grandparents ranch, property whatever you want to call it. Swap oil and give a once over to all nuts and bolts, head into Paso Robles, catch the 101 north, cut over to Laguna Seca and watch some historics racing. Then perhaps head into the city by the bay by a body of water and out to tahoe then back down to LA. Who knows at this point.

Thanks everything for thinking this thing looks great. It took a long time getting everything powdercoated, plated, painted, waiting for parts to show up, shoot I still am. lI guess when your doing something a little custom things just take longer. If anything I have done can help someone else with a project they are doing let me know and I can get a little more in depth.

scott where are you from in the dena? i used to love the crest but have gotten over it in years past from bad experiences with crappy road conditions ands ice late at night. I am still up for it during the day though! Got everything ready for cam timing tomorrow morning, a friend is stopping by to check things out while I try to time cams and then I am off to work, boohoo. Ok I am at work but a little update. Got the timing done last night, going to button up the valve covers this evening. Fitted the fan shroud and getting ready to put the fan in with the new engine harness I made. Intakes are on as well. Going to pop the tranny in this week, get the motor in and finish wiring the ecu harness. Then its load the program, cross my fingers and turn the key.

Oh and 930 brakes are the next mod and possibly 16's.....then its on to my car

so this week is, install trans and cv's, run wiring for tach and speedo, power from battery to ecu, grounds for ecu and ignition expander, finish sheet metal on motor, install motor, finish wiring for ecu to motor, shrink wrap and add connectors, install harness, download base maps and crank it over.

Hopefully crank it over, most important to get the darn wiring on the brain right and make sure everything is hooked up properly. Once its running and broken in then its dyno time for a final tune and a trip up north. Then brakes and a little suspension work and its quits for this car, work on mine and hopefully an IROC rep...

All I can say is that if I thought I could build one this quickly, my motor would be out of my car today! Congrats on the great result.

Ok so its been quite a while. Busy with school lately and falling a bit behind on the motor. This weekend will be a marathon to get it in the car and running. What has been done since last time:

Fitted filter baseplates and air filters
Finalized fuel system plumbing
Finalized throttle linkage, cables and mounts
Installed engine tin
Put on heat exchangers and dry fitted muffler
Polished(in the process) muffler
Heater hoses, plug wires, sensors all on
Made a new engine wiring harness and kept the external voltage regulator
Installed oil breather tank
Ran power and ground for ecu and ignition expander
Ran speedo sensor wiring from trans to gauge
Cleaned up the front trunk wiring
Cleaned up and rewrapped body wire harness in engine bay (eliminated lots of unneeded wires, rewrapped it and put a different connector on for the engine harness to plug into
Put the new clutch cable in
New fuel pump and wiring
Installed trigger wheel/crank pulley and sensor

Tonight is getting the tranny in with axles, jacking the car up more and getting it ready to take the motor. Also cut the engine tin to pass the lower plug wires through. I will take some more pictures tonight and post the ones from the past week when I get home this afternoon.

Oh and getting ready to run the ecu wiring to cut it to size, shrink wrap and add connectors.

p.s. I am having a major brainfart, where does the alt. to case ground cable attach on the alt? I am using an external regulator Bosch unit if that helps any

The case halves, cam towers, chain boxes and covers, fan, fan housing, upper and lower valve covers and other misc. bits were blasted and then powdercoated. The end result is very nice but I am not sure if I would do it again. Unless you can tape the parts up yourself or know the powdercoater extremely well the amount of cleanup after is quite time consuming. That being said the valve covers, chain boxes, fan and housing, engine tin I would do again without a doubt. Thinking about anodizing the next time around though.

WOW! Looks great.

Catca - Its an Aeromotive AN-6 adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Jeff like Mike said the FPR is an Aeromotive unit. Very simple to put in just figure out where to put it and connect the hoses. I ditched the whole electrical board as you can see so keeping all the fuel bits on the left side was an easy choice.

All the fuel lines are Earl's braided stainless steel wrapped lines with AN-6 fittings. I got some adapters for the fuel accumulator and filter so I could run all braided hose in the engine bay. Next little project is running a braided line from the pump to the accumulator after the car is all done.

I got hung up a bit installing the motor though, the starter gear wasnt lining up nicely with the ring gear but once I took the starter off it went in much easier. Today is all about wiring for me. Dad is tackling the other parts that would just take time away from me wiring. Heater hoses, oil line hookup, running a power wire to the brain, tach wire, speedo wires. I cant wait to finally fire this thing up, its going to be loud because it wont be running a muffler because the bumper was notched and I havent cut the muffler exhaust holes yet. Plus I want to hear how loud it is open lol.

As soon as the wiring is done and its running I will record a short video with the camera if anyone wants to host it or hear it. Then its off for dyno tune, 930 brakes and 16's. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at last!
