Okay, here is the latest! CC'd the piston domes, measured the deck height and CC'd the heads tonight. All is looking like I nailed the CR at 10.5 which is right where I wanted it. The only down side is I have 1.20mm of deck height which is about .2mm more than I wanted. So, I *may* make a bigger relief in the combustion chamber for the second plug and reduce the deck height a little but I am not too sure I want to screw with it at this point as the CR is where I want it.....
Here are the numbers Deck height 1.20mm Head volume 90cc dome volume 40cc stroke 74.4mm bore 98mm According to this calculator it is 10.50:1 http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html Here is a pic of the heads being CC'd, Yes I am in the kitchen again. That is where the Rodney Strong Cab is and there was a game on..... Playoffs you know! ![]() ![]() Cheers

You will win. My ECU is 4 weeks away!!
![]() Plus I have to do more re enforicing of the rear tub (welding), get the wiring figured out blah blah blah....... Where did you get that shroud, I htink I need one. Maybe I will just get my father to make a mold for me, he is bored right now and an absolute expert (magician) with fiberglass...... Been doing it for 45 years. I am good too, but not like him!

Hey I will gladly give my time with my dad in the garage getting his car done for him. If the weather is good might have to take a break and go surf a bit though. The shroud I picked up from pete at rennspeed, rennspd.com and fitting it really wasnt too bad. I have heard horror stories though.

Geeze that is nasty looking! Ouch!
I thought you were going to use the tool that I turned and used on my 3.6? Do you want to make one that works for those clips? I am a hacker on the lathe but might be able to do the tool (or you should buy one). Hope you get all fixed up! Cheers, MIke

Back home now 6hrs later..... only took 6 stitches!!
I wish I had some beers!!!! Mike I think I need you to make me one of those, the 3.6 one would not work even after i ground it down. I will have to bring a pin and piston over. Bed time...... Cheers

That looks like a screwdriver in the palm - and have to say I thought the JE circlip install was one of the hardest parts of my engine rebuild...
Next time, I'll get a tool made

Jeremy, you are right, that is a screwdriver!!!! Those little buggers are a pain so to speak!! They were actually quite concerned about nerve damage etc, but it all appears okay for now. Craig, thanfully I am righthanded!
This motor is the death of me. Too many firsts like headstud trouble, trips to the hospital etc. I guess I was due for some roadblocks, All the others have gone together so trouble free! This thing had better make some good power or it is going over the cliff.......... Cheers

The right technique is tricky to figure out, but other than some sore fingers I was able to get them on without much trouble. I agree that it was one of least enjoyable parts of the build (next to gluing up the case).
I found that giving the c-clips a few very light compression squeezes with a pair of pliers helped before attempting to install them. Becareful that the clip doesn't fly out of your pliers (I covered the end of the pliers with my other hand). And DO NOT squeez too hard. I then would install one half of the clip into the piston bore (sort of at an angle) and then using both thumbs push the other half in and down. As soon as the other half barely made it's way into the bore, I'd grab a pair if needle nose and carefully push it home.
