One of my Porsches have an RS engine but I really need to know if it is real RS. It is complete with MFI. Engine # is 6650038. Any comments?

balleta,
According to the "Original Porsche911" book by Peter Morgan the 1973 RS Carrera engine numbers run from 6630001-6631549. Engine number 6650038 is listed as a 1975 Carrera engine. however the specs for your engine match the 1973 RS engines at engine type 911/83, 210hp @ 6300 RPM, 255Nm@5100, 8.5:1 compression. The only difference is it is listed as weighing 1120kg vs. the RS Carrera engne weight of 975kg. I'm not an expert in this area as I'm just reading this out of my book. Maybe some others will chime in. This may not be considered an original "RS" engine, but it might be one of the legendary RS leftovers that got used up later. Not sure why it weighs more. Sounds like a great engine. Be happy. Al

That motor is the same thing as a 2.7RS engine, though it's a '75 Euro motor...just want to point out that the 975kg/1120kg figures are for the *cars* and not the engines

The '75 engine I'm asking about is a euro engine complete with MFI. Anyone have an idea of current value?
