Single Mahle/Max Moritz 3.2 cylinder?

A friend broke a #4 headstud on an '83 911SC engine running the 3.2l Max Moritz Mahle P&C. I suspect he didn't catch it in time and that cylinder is toast.

Assuming this is the case, can we buy a single new cylinder somewhere? Is that a good idea? Or, does anyone know where we'd find a decent used one? Finally, if he chooses to not rebuild this engine, any ideas where he can find a buyer for the 6 pistons & 5 good cylinders?

Sorry for the dumb questions... I'm trying to learn enough about these parts to make some intelligent decisions.

Thanks,
-Vic

Try EBS Racing (800 462 3774). They might have a solution for you.

Chris - Thanks for the tip. EBS can bore and replate a 95mm cylinder for a reasonable cost. They also said my only new option is to buy a full set of P&C... Oww. Finally they told me the remaining five P&C are worth something but wouldn't give ball park #'s without seeing them.

More to think about. I've done a top end and a full rebuild before. I knew what I was getting into on both of those engines. The unknowns here (unknown costs, mainly) make me nervous. On the other hand, what's an adventure without risk.

Thanks again,
-Vic

Pete @ Andial Road and Race is a very good source for a single new Mahle cylinder. 714-957-3900

I might have a used one but haven't had a chance to look.

Height group ?
