3.2 power loss
I'm experiencing a power loss from about 1/2 throttle to full throttle. Up to half throttle with a light load the motor is fine, but when you punch it, it starts to hesitate, there is a slight burble in the exhaust and starts to loose power. It you back off to partial throttle again it's fine. Any ideas what to look for. The motor is a 3.2 w/SW chip & SSI's.

I'd guess maybe one of three things:
1. fuel issue - maybe your pressures aren't high enough (possibly bad fuel pressure regulator - check the vacuum connection to the fuel pressure regulator) or the fuel filter is plugged so it doesn't get enough fuel, when you need it. 2. maybe your AFM isn't reading properly (have you seen the threads about refurbishing)? If it is a low mile engine this is probably unlikely. 3. Is your WOT switch working - that mechanism lets the computer know to go into open loop and wide open throttle fuel and ignition mapping. Does it run perfectly everywhere else? How many miles on it? Did anything precipitate?

Runs great everywhere else. I was coming back from a 50 mi. drive. I didn't notice the power loss until I got on the freeway. No acceleration, but as soon as I backed off to partial throttle it was fine. Drove about 20 mi. on the freeway. Was able to cruise around 75-80 as long as I didn't punch it. The motor has 120K miles, top end done around 96K.

Do you have tools to check the various items I mentioned? #3 is pretty simple. You can check continuity at the WOT throttle switch. Look for the switch on the TB which is engaged by WOT.
For # 1, you probably need a pressure tester for fuel. did the tone of your pump become very loud? When I've had that issue, the pump has gotten very loud. Once I cleaned the filter (I have a screen before the pump) it quieted right down. I actually had my engine stall at WOT and come back online after a 1 second delay due to low Fuel Pressure. That was a factory Motronic managed engine, too. For # 2 you can search other threads about the Carrera AFM. Good luck, Doug Doug
