JE Piston C clip install tool
I posted this in another thread today, but Randy Webb had the idea to repost it here for posterity:
For you guys who mentioned you had installing JE circlips, you might be interested in this. We fabricated a makeshift tool for installing them. It's basically a piece of 3/4" ID electrical conduit cut with a very slight bevel and ground smooth. Inside, we used a socket that just fits the conduit as a ram (13mm craftsman deep socking in my case) attached to a long extension. The clip is squeezed into the conduit on an angle and then placed flat to the piston. The socket extension is tapped lightly with a tack hammer to pop the clip in. On average, it took 2-3 tries per clip to get it in there. Easy and bloodless. ![]() ![]()

I made a tool that works the same. Modified to fit JE Pistons. Great for saving fingers and other body parts.
