Engine heat shields
Can anyone post a picture of how the heatshields that surround the cylinders should go on a 1983 3.0 SC?
The pictures in Wayne's book and the Bentley are slightly different than what I have on the engine. Thanks |

No matter what pictures show, there is really only one way these can go. They are installed up from the bottom, so the long thin springy pieces are over the tops of the cylinders.
And they are installed so that their fat ends cover the case through bolt ends. Try them in both orientations, and you will see that one way they will match the taper of the cooling fins on the cylinders and snuggle into place, and the other they will not. I'd call them air guides, not heat shields. If I am thinking of what you are asking about: the four sort of L shaped end pieces and the four "between cylinder" T pieces, two of each on each cylinder bank? But someone quicker with a camera or with a picture handy will show you, I am sure. Walt Fricke |

Thanks. That's what they are. The both end ones and two center ones have cuts outs in them. The end cut outs are not shown in any books.
